|2nd Annual Yellow Mustang Show & Cruise|
Tindol Ford, Gastonia NC - April 26, 2003
Saturday April 26th marked the calendar for what had to be the best Yellow Mustang Show & Cruise ever planned! There was so much going on to get involved with, that some of us were on the go from 8am to 1am that night. Despite the constant threat of rain all day, we had 38 cars participate in the show. Cobras, Mach I's, GT's, and V6's were all intermingled together in a large horseshoe shape around the parking lot. We did get a short spout of rain at the show, but it didn't stop us from enjoying the day.
Going back to the night before, we had also setup a meet at a local carwash for the out-of-towners which turned out to be a great icebreaker before the show. 15 cars traveled from our host hotel to the carwash in a mini-caravan of their own! That alone was a site that people just couldn't comprehend as they drove by.
Tindol Ford went out of their way to provide us with hotdogs & drinks during the show, as well as special yellow T-shirts made up for each participant. A pack of high-end vehicles was arranged in the center of the display for those that wanted to view the Tindol Ford premier inventory. The Gaston Gazette newspaper managed to get us in the front of the "Hometown" section of the paper. (Scanned Photo)
We gave away approximately $3000 worth of door prizes including some Vogtland Springs, 3.73 gears from Custom Performance, Stainless bumper letters from SSinserts.com, Pro50 Shift knobs, Zaino, Meguiars, Primedia Magazines, and much more. Thanks to all of our sponsors for donating their support of our show! We also gave a cash award to the furthest driven person, Charles Drake from Rowlett, TX. (1009 mi.)
After the show, we formed a long caravan of bright yellow cars headed towards Charlotte for some indoor racing at Victory Lane Karting. We cruised for 20 miles and did very well at disrupting traffic on the highway. No one could seem to get around the train of yellow Mustangs! We were all able to stay together and enjoy this rare site so it turned out perfectly.
Following the karting, we decided to eat at Outback Steakhouse for those that wanted to relax and talk about the days activities. Our service was terrible, but at least we all managed to still have a good time and met all the YMR members from the forums.
Being a part of a show and cruise such as this is something never to be forgotten. The site of 40 yellow Mustangs cruising down the road together is quite the head turner. But by far the most enjoyable experience is meeting new friends with the same obsession and putting the face with the screen name from our YMR forums. This was the most fun some of us have experienced in a long time. People are already talking about doing it again next year!
