1996 marked the first year of the new 4.6L engine replacing the 5.0 of previous years. 1996 models are recognized by the vertical taillight redesign (94 & 95) to horizontal, plus the black strip across the bottom of the rear bumper. These figures include all V6, GT, and Cobra models.
